Come Celebrate!

21/04/2010

A year ago now my book – “The Groups of Hope:  walking with God in difficult times” was published.  I am into the second printing with 200 copies in the hands of interested people.

The Handbook outlines the program of the Groups of Hope and has been used by facilitators to understand how to facilitate the groups.  The program has been used in churches, women’s groups and penal institutions, with both women and men.

I didn’t have a book launch last year, so this spring I am holding an event at Spring Garden Baptist Church in Toronto to celebrate that the book and the program are reaching out to those who are hurting and in need of encouragement.

It is being held on Sunday, May 16th from 2-4 pm and is open to anyone who would like to come to ‘celebrate’ with me.

The book is now translated into Telugu in India and into Spanish in Bolivia, and is being translated as well into Oriya, one of the languages in the state of Orissa in India.

It is exciting to see that the book is helpful in explaining how to conduct the groups.  The book contains short examples of individuals whose lives have been impacted by God as they attended the program.

If you would like a copy of the book E-mail me and I will send one to you for $24.00

India – 2010

20/04/2010

Hi:

What a wonderful time it was in India for six weeks.  There was so much to learn about this vast, beautiful country, with its variety of colour, language and people.   We conducted 5 two day workshops for the wives of pastors and seeing the Groups of Hope program in action once again  – with the way the women responded to the format of the group and to God’s touch was truly inspiring.

I have been invited to go back in 2011 to work with the women from various churches and look forward to meeting them and to seeing the use of the program expand.

I had sent the Handbook “The Groups of Hope Program:  walking with God in difficult times” ahead, and it was translated into Telugu, the language of Andhra Pradesh where we were working and travelling.

It was thrilling to see the women receive the book to take back to their churches with them.  Many said they expected to use the program in children, youth and women’s work in their churches.

The last workshop was with pastors and their wives from Orissa, a state north of Andhra Pradesh.  they speak the Oriya language and the translator, who teaches in an international leadership institute, asked me if he could translate the book for his people, with a goal of having it completed by 2011 when I go in September.

I came home tired but very satisfied with the time we had spent.  Working closely with Indian friends like Ratnavathi and BabuRao was a highlight of the time for me, because there was so much to learn about this new culture that their guidance and lessons were invaluable.
